Rules & Guidelines

“I haven’t read the rules” is NOT an excuse for violating them. Staying current on our rules is your responsibility.

General Community Conduct

These rules apply across the entire community — Discord and in-game shifts alike.
Zero tolerance for discrimination or hate speech based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, national origin, or personal beliefs.Examples of violations:
  • Using racial, homophobic, or transphobic slurs.
  • Derogatory jokes about a specific religion or nationality.
  • Refusing to interact with someone based on who they are.
Violating the Terms of Service of platforms VCF operates on — Discord, Roblox — is strictly prohibited. Any ToS violation on VCF-operated surfaces is also a community-rule violation. What this means: We are bound by the platforms we run on. ToS violations expose VCF to takedowns, bans, and loss of partner standing. Staff are required to enforce these standards and escalate serious violations.Examples of violations:
  • Sharing content that violates Discord’s Community Guidelines (CSAM, threats of violence, doxxing, etc.).
  • Evading a Discord, Roblox, or Valley Prison platform ban through alternate accounts.
  • Exploiting or botting within Valley Prison or VCF shifts.
  • Distributing malware, phishing links, or account-stealing tools.
  • Any action that would result in platform-level enforcement against VCF.
Severe ToS violations — particularly those involving minors, threats of real-world violence, or account compromise — are zero-tolerance and result in an immediate permanent ban regardless of offense history.
Treat other members with respect, even during disagreements. Harassment, bullying, belittling, or intimidating other users is strictly forbidden.Examples of violations:
  • Personal attacks like “That’s a stupid idea, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”
  • Repeatedly messaging a user who has asked you to stop.
  • Publicly mocking a member for their opinions or roleplay style.
General profanity is allowed in moderation. Using profanity, slurs, or derogatory terms to insult, attack, or degrade another user is prohibited. This includes bypass slang such as “SYBAU”, “STFU”, etc.Examples of violations:
  • Calling another user an insulting name.
  • Using any slur, regardless of target.
  • Using mental-health terms as insults.
Posting sexual, graphic, or gore-related content is forbidden. Insensitive jokes about real-world tragedies are also prohibited.Examples of violations:
  • Posting pornography or sexually explicit material.
  • Sharing real-life gore, mutilation, or death imagery.
  • Making jokes about victims of real-world tragedies.
Mature, respectful discussions of real-world events are permitted. Discussions of partisan politics, political figures, or election debates are not allowed.Examples of violations:
  • Memes or jokes about natural disaster victims.
  • Debating political parties or candidates.
  • Spreading conspiracy theories about tragic events.
Do not disclose or claim to possess classified or confidential VCF information. Knowing another member holds such information and failing to report it is also a violation.Examples of violations:
  • Sharing screenshots from confidential staff channels.
  • Claiming access to confidential information to generate drama.
  • Hinting at sensitive staff discussions to influence others.

Discord-Specific Rules

These rules apply to conduct within our Discord server.
This is an English-only server so staff can moderate effectively. Using other languages in public channels is not permitted.
Advertising personal projects, social media, or other Discord communities without explicit staff permission is prohibited. Poaching members via DMs is strictly forbidden.
Use channels for their intended purpose, and open support tickets only for serious inquiries.Examples of violations:
  • Asking for support in general chat.
  • Opening tickets to troll staff or make false reports.
Do not flood chat or mass-mention users.Examples of violations:
  • Sending the same message 3+ times.
  • Pinging staff to say hello.
  • Mentioning multiple users for no reason.
Conduct rules apply to DMs with staff. Harassment, threats, or abuse via DM is a reportable offense and will be treated as a community-rules violation.
All text-channel rules apply in voice. Discord Activities may only be launched with a moderator present and supervising.Examples of violations:
  • Verbally insulting another user or mic-spamming.
  • Spamming the soundboard.
  • Starting a Watch Together session without moderation present.

In-Game Roleplay Rules

These rules apply inside our Roblox game shifts. For a detailed guide, see Roleplay Information.
Unrealistic, nonsensical actions, or actions that break the immersion of a correctional-facility setting.Examples of violations:
  • An unarmed inmate showing no fear toward heavily armed COs.
  • Claiming superhuman abilities.
  • Not roleplaying injuries after being tased.
Graphic, sexual, or sensitive real-world themes are strictly forbidden.Examples of violations:
  • Romantic, intimate, or sexual roleplay (NSFW).
  • Graphic torture or dismemberment.
  • Large-scale political attacks or bomb threats.
Powergaming: forcing outcomes on other players. Metagaming: using OOC knowledge to give your IC character an unfair advantage.Examples of violations:
  • Roleplaying “tackles the inmate” instead of “attempts to tackle the inmate.”
  • Using Discord-sourced info in-character.
Do not force your way into scenes you aren’t part of, intentionally provoke staff, or disrupt gameplay.Examples of violations:
  • Walking into an interrogation to start small talk.
  • Repeatedly flashing minor contraband at a CO to provoke them.
  • Spamming tool sounds during a serious scene.
In-game VC is for in-character communication only. OOC conversations belong outside the game.
Joining or impersonating members of a whitelisted team without an accepted application is a serious offense. Whitelisted teams include CO, the internal Medical team, and the Sheriff’s Department.
Fremont State Police (FSP) is an external partner faction with its own SWAT sub-division. VCF does not manage FSP — you must meet their own requirements to play on their team during VCF shifts.
Refusing a direct OOC order from a moderator is a serious offense.Examples of violations:
  • Ignoring a moderator telling you to stop breaking a rule.
  • Leaving the game to evade a frozen-player check.
  • Arguing a moderator decision in public rather than using the appeal process.
